Appointment Information
What should I bring to my appointment?
- Referral letter from your General Practitioner or Specialist
- Medicare Card and Private Health Insurance details
- Information about past treatments
- List of current medications
What to expect at an appointment?
Your first appointment will take 45 – 60 minutes. This is to ensure that your treating Psychiatrist can talk to you about your referral and take a full detailed history. Our Psychiatrists believe in working with you collaboratively. They will respect your privacy and confidentiality.
What are your fees?
Our practice does not bulk bill. The cost of your appointment will vary depending on the length and nature of the session. A list of current fees will be provided on request including information on the rebate you will receive from Medicare. All fees are to be paid in full on the day of your appointment.
For patients who are having ongoing treatment, please register with the Medicare Safety Net. Once your family reaches the Medicare Safety Net threshold, Medicare will cover 80% of your out of pocket expenses. Call Medicare on 132 011 for more details, or you can visit their website at: https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/medicare/medicare-safety-net
How do I cancel my appointment?
Please contact us if you cannot attend your appointment as there are often people on a waiting list. Unfortunately, when one patient cancels without giving enough notice, they prevent another patient from being seen.
Please call us more than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to notify us of any changes or cancellations. To cancel a Monday appointment please call our office by 2.00 pm on Friday.
If prior notification is not given, you will be charged a cancellation fee for the missed appointment. This fee does not attract a Medicare Rebate and must be paid in full before any further appointments will be made.
Renewal of Referrals:
Please be aware that referrals last only for a certain period of time. A General Practitioner referral will last for 12 months. A referral from a Specialist will last for 3 months. Please remember to check with our reception staff if your current referral is in date when making follow-up appointments.
